Holland, MI— Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW) today announced the release of their interactive 2016 annual report.  Along with the digital report’s detailed stories, interactive graphics and financial figures from this year, it features tools and resources for local educators.

“We believe that providing students with context on what is happening in their community will help them to become community advocates and engaged citizens.” Dave Koster, general manager of HBPW said. “We wanted to create a path for educators to use the annual report as a resource for connecting required content with real world examples.”

HBPW engaged with local educators to provide helpful tools for classrooms. Among the resources provided are “How It Works” diagrams, a sample lesson plan, state standards connections, and career spotlights of employees.

“We are always excited to partner with organizations like HBPW to provide our students with real-life knowledge and experiences”, said Jason Pasatta, Development Director of Ottawa Area Intermediate School District. “It’s great that HBPW took the initiative to serve as a resource for our educators.”

The stories in the web-based report explore the synchronicity of each utility. The articles feature local companies, residents and HBPW employees, while guiding readers through the synchronized flow of utilities from production to distribution to residential and business use.
