The Holland Board of Public Works and Windmill Island Gardens are partnering up to tackle water conservation this summer, through a series of workshops with their community garden program called Water Wise Gardens. In our Water Wise Gardens class on irrigation, we will be building DIY subsurface drip irrigation systems that you can install in your plot, or take home for use in your food garden at home! A subsurface drip system will deliver water directly to your plants’ roots, and avoid wasteful evaporation off the surface of the soil that often comes with sprinkling or any surface application of water. Additionally, we’ll be talking about best watering practices for water conservation and garden health.
All supplies are included at this workshop; just bring yourself and a pair of work gloves.
This workshop is free, but we do ask that you register at this link to reserve your spot.
